Default with a twist of Goldfields....

A good friend gave me this Goldfields Burl blank (amongst others) and didn't think much of it. Today I returned the favor and gave him this twist pen as a gift. He couldn't believe it was the same piece of timber. Goldfields Burl sure is nice, but what tree does it come from?
Pics aren't the greatest, but I'm working on it.
    Cheers, Glenn.

    nice fit and finish mate

gold fields burl tends to be a name given to timber when people don't know what the tree was, but they do know that it came from the gold fields

my guess would be red morrell burl, only a guess though others may know better

it does become a beutiful piece of wood however, great job

    Default Glenn

Goldfields name is exotic to start with and your pen is great, amazing to see it live as you turn it, like Tassie Euc the Goldfields Burl covers numerous timbers, certainly this one is great in start and finish.

    nice pen whatever it is
Send HazzaB and PM as I'm sure he deals with goldfield timbers a lot so he might have an idea as to what it is.
