Upstream or Downstream??
Which one looks more appealing, the fish swimming Upstream or Downstream?
The barrels are laser cut inlays I purchased using African Blackwood and 6 BOW fish. Finished with 6 coats of MINWAX Oil Modified Water Based Clear Satin Polyurethane.
The first pen is Sierra Ti Gold/Black Ti with an Aussie Pacifica Tapa Cap Band and Center Band with the fish swimming Upstream.
The second pen is a Elegant Beauty Ti Gold/Platinum with the fish swimming Downstream.

Personally I prefer the second, but I'll bet you get people liking either. They are both very nice.
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

To me it does not impact the look either way, so long as the fish is right way up, neither looks as good with the fish upside down, flip the pen over and all is good. I'm not sure if that makes any sense. I'll just go with a bob each way.

I don't think it matters either way. Most pens spend some time sitting on the desk and how it looks then will depend as much about how the owner plonks it down as how you build it Les.
But if I saw two displayed together, I vote for both going the same direction.

I prefer downstream, the fish points in the direction you are writing, kind of like an arrow.

Re: Upstream or Downstream??
Downstream seems to have a nice flow/logic to it.

Thanks for everyone's comments.
Downstream it is!
To me it just looks right going with the direction of the nib and the flow of the ink.

Downstream too for me Les. A trout upstream in a jump would be great. Perfect work as usual
