Default I have been on vacation

    G'day Y'all,
Sorry I have not posted in a while, but we decided to take a week off from the world and spend some good family time together. We had a great time, did a little local traveling, met some nice people, saw some cool sites, and even picked up some old wood. One piece is from an old barn that is over 100 years old, and another very small piece is from an old covered bridge featured in the movie "Bridges of Madison County".
It will take me some time to catch up with all the posts. Please forgive me if I miss a post, it is nothing personal.

    Cheers,

    Rick

Glad you had a chance to get away and relax! You apparently managed to get some good wood while you were at it )!

After my last one I think I'll do that too, sometimes good to come back fresh.

    Hey Scroll,
I hope you didn't take the timber from the supports on the bridge. I may end up like the bridge in "Funny Farm"

    Linden,
That is a historical monument! People go to visit that every day. There is no way I could do something like that......plus there was just no way to get down to the good stuff Actually, when they rebuilt the bridge, the kept small pieces to sell.

    Cheers,

    Rick

Thank you all very much. Yes my batteries are definitely recharged, and it was so great to spend good family time. Unfortunately, the piece I have is very small. You know I looked very carefully around each of the five bridges looking for a piece that had fallen (or would have fallen with an accidental bump or two).
In our travels, we found some great really old barns that did have beautiful planks falling off. Unfortunately, we were in the car and not my truck. Sounds like another weekend trip

    Cheers,

    Rick

I guess we'll soon be reading in the newspapers of a "Scrollzilla" on the loose attacking bridges all over the country.

    G'day JD,
I walked around with my head down for so long looking for good ones that my neck is sore. Unfortunately, in this area of the U.S., all the pine cones are tiny. I have some family in Florida taking a look. I guess I can go the Ebay route, but that takes all the fun out of it.

    Cheers,

    Rick
