Plantagenon,
I am a friend of Seamus and his extreme cutting in and around various quarters is legendary in America, he constantly assists people to view his progress in the making of these pen however as in Kentucky Fried et al certain proceedures are his stock in trade and form a way to survive in this present economic climate. Sorry I could nor address you by name since you do not have one in your details, would like to know you better before suggesting the above. For me this happy Penmaking is for fun I want to share I do all the time but sometimes it is like the small boy who said to his Mum where do I come from and the Mum gives him the whole story of the birds and the bees at the end of which the kid says oh my mate John said he came from Newcastle.
Notice you are preparing to retire and as a retiree of some 15 yrs would like you to know making pens started well before then and remains a source of fun for me now. I have said this on the forum before but when I did retire I noticed a certain tension at home, figured out SWMBO acted defensively, bit the bull by the throat and said one morning what are you doing today to reply I could see it disturbed her then I said well I am going the Mall in an hour would you like to come deflating the obvious build up my new home time could have caused.
Kind regards Peter.

Sesmus, Dick and Peter
I understand that trade secrets need to remain just that. Actually, my comment was made tongue in cheek because even had you placed instructions on here I have too many other facets of pen making to perfect before I even think about moving on to something so complicated. Nevertheless, wonderful work if you don't mind a beginner paying you a compliment.
