    Default Washington State Quarter

This awesome blank was made for me be an IAP member. I wrapped it around a Rhodium Jr Statesman II. Believe me, my pictures don't do justice to the blank.

Wow, what a great idea - wrapping coins around pens!

May I ask if the green is significant - like a state colour or something, or is it just a nice background colour to display the coin?

Of course it's significant. "Evergreen" --> green.

it seemed such a reasonable question till you pointed it out lol Now it seems a silly question so I am glad I didn't ask it .

    G'day All,

    Well, I can't read either

I thought it was a reasonable question until the answer came back and Ian made the comment, and I looked at the coin instead of the pen

    Sorry

    Whaler,

Superb Pen, Washington was a personal friend of a cousin of mine who both combined with and signed the American Declaration OF Independance in the 1700,s.
Another IAP Member Lazer cut a faximile onto 3/4 inch wood about 18 inches long by around 12 inches across. Two of them one for my daughter who lives in Utah, she is due to visit us end of June bringing our copy of the Declaration with her. I would like to get a couple of wood blanks with a Washington quarter set in it who made your blank?
reason for timber is the association of Washington cutting down a tree.

I was not aware different quarters were made in the USA they never seemed to last long enough in my pockets during my visits there.

Love that pen perhaps I can make a special one for my daughter in the states as she is our family historian who revealed the details of my Scottish rellies who moved to the States in the 1700,s and the 1800,s. Our family came to Australia in the 1840,s lots of fun.

Your pen stirred many memories for me thankyou. Another daughter spent 3 1/2 yrs in DC during 9/11 working at the Aussie Embassy as the PA for Australias Defence rep.

    Kind regards Peter.

I "cheated." I lived in Washington state for several years, so I'm familiar with the slogan. It relates to the state's reputation as a timber source, and has nothing to do with George cutting down a tree. Besides, his tree was cherry (deciduous), not evergreen such as Douglas fir, which is all over the state.

The US government issued state quarters, five per year, from 1999, in the order of accession; the last ones were Alaska and Hawaii in 2008, which transformed from territories to states in 1959. They've since followed with quarters for territories (e.g. Guam and US Virgin Islands) and national parks.

    Cheers,
    Joe

The Green and gold are the State colors ... similar to another countries use of the colors I believe.

The Washington State Flag is the only state flag with a green field and it's the only state flag that displays an image of an actual person. It's a fitting representation of the Evergreen State, the only state to be named to honor a United States president.

    Dick,
I'm just now seeing this thread! thanks for posting! I am just about caught up with all of these quarters, I have a few people that I owe some stuff to for some trades done several months back. As some of you may know, I am the Tru-Quarter™ pen blank founder, it is my passion, but can take up alot of time. But seeing the final pictures like the one Dick posted make all of that hard work worth all the while! What a beaut!
