Watch Gears and Aluminum .... Again
just like the last one, i spent a couple of hours bending and shaping watch gears by hand.... definitely gotta get me one of those shaping blocks
this one i dressed up a little with just a hint of red wire and a Date Circle
this time i used a Zen component set in Chrome plating, i would have preferred to go with a Black Ti or Gun Metal but i had none left, guess i will have to order some more
It was cast at the same time as my previous post but needed some attention due to silicon molds and pressure, you can see in the pickie how much the molds compress under 45psi, i will not use these in the pressure pot again, instead i am trying out another idea as i type
thanks for looking, C&C encouraged

This is a true beauty MIK!!!
The gears seem to be more randomly placed and the red wire adds that little extra touch!!!

Thanks Artme, i must say though that the only gear that was really random..... was the first, all the others had to fit in a spot
Thanks Amos, i showed a lot of people the 2 blanks pre casting and most liked the other better, my preference was this one and still is, i did plan for Blk Ti or Gun metal components but the chrome works

Mik,
Looking Great !! they have a sort of 3D effect in areas with the watch part gears and the textured foil behind. Its like you are looking into the working parts of something Very nice keep them coming these should prove to be popular
Cheers
Tony.

thanks Tony, with this one for some reason the watch gears appear to be floating in the resin, if only it was possible to have them spinning as well... that would be a major WOW... popular well i hope so, the amount of time (yeah i know) that goes into these things is amazing, i have done another tonight, i wonder if they have pink steampunk... and thats where i will leave it
i'm with you Brad, thanks for the feedback mate

Beautiful work again Mik I have a spell from the markets this week and next so might try and fit in some specials hehe. One thing I do with those longer molds is to have a light wooden box frame around the mold to support it under pressure ,especially with some of my home made molds which seem to be a bit softer silicone (and thinner ) hehe. Cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

thanks for the feedback John, have a great time with the bending, thats my favorite part
i tried just using conduit on the weekend, with the silicon plugs that came with the mold, worked great but i have to work out a way to keep the top in the center of the tube, under pressure all of the experiments moved to the side at the top, the bottom silicon plug was stuck to the duck tape sealing the bottom of the tube so it didn't move
i am also going to make a box with a hole in the top for my pressure pot, and a slot in the bottom for a fan heater to blow in warm air, not hot just warm, 4 hours in the sun yesterday and the resin in the pressure pot had set, much better than the 24 hours and still sticky, more experimenting needed just the same
