Wedding present
Evening All
I am seeking advice, I apologise if this has been discussed before.
I have been asked to turn a pair of matching pens for a young cousin about to get married.
One pen with his name, and one pen with her name on the clip.
The wood I have chosen is Red Mallee Burl (thanks Corbs) and Birds Eye Yellow Box (thanks Salty)
I am considering one 1/2 of each for each pen, being contrasting, yet a pair.
Please let me know if this defies current convention. I will post the final product
Cheers
Willy

Whatever looks good -is good ,the idea is that we are doing one offs and unique items, only you will know if it is suitable in the end ,as long as the technical details such as fit to nib centre and clip is good, anything in between is fair game and all have their preferences , as to conventional most seem to think a black and white pair is ok, or all white ,but that said it will be appreciated whatever you do cheers ~ John
G'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

Willy,
I personally don't like mixing materials, however I can guarantee that the recipients won't give a rats a$$ what I think and will love anything you do for them. Go with the flow and see what comes of it. Big Shed has also made some very nice wedding pen sets too. Here and here are a couple. Make sure you post pics of the finished product though. If only I had made two knot blanks for youIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Hello Guys
OK, went with the flow and also 'whatever looks good, I also don't like the idea of mixing materials (looks like two mistakes). Also Corbs, don't be hard on yourself, I appreciate the one Celtic knot (actually looked at it tonight, but put it down again, don't want to stuff it), don't expect two
Will post some piccys soon.
Thanks for the advice
Regards
Willy

SM,
Its more simple than you think... I sent Willy a pre-made blank, he only needs to drill & turn itIt's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
