Certainly another outstanding Pen for your collection ! Definately hard to go past some of the wood alternatives available to us at times. For me the woods are great ,but not always sure of the longevity of the medium, and the colors and patterns of "stone" and acrylics are what appeals to some people more than any thing else . All good though
cheers for another example of what care and imagination can achieve JohnG'day all !Enjoy your stay !!!

This is what the maker of the blank emailed me on seeing the photos "that really worked out good! I see you had no trouble figuring out where to drill it. I know those acrylic flames, I had issues making those. They look awesome, but they are difficult to make. I have to drill them with a 1/4" hole down the center before I cut the flames. A 1/4" drill bit is flimsy compared to a large drill bit, and thus can wander off on an angle as it drills down. That's why I marked an X, but the x isn't in the center of the old hole. The blank has to be put in the mold straight, but the hole is slightly on an angle. The flames are cut but they can only be cut down the blank and the saw can not exit the side. If you tried to turn the saw and exit the flame at the side, it would cut the flame that is on the side away. So the flame is only cut straight down, then the blank is turned on it's side and cut straight down. Then I use a rotary tool and dig into the corners to connect the sides, which pops away the scrap piece leaving flames on all four sides. If the hole wasn't in the middle, the corners couldn't be removed to reveal the flames."
His name is Jeff Powell on the IAP site, he does under the name "workinforwood" in the "Individual Classifieds", he posts a thread called "Topshelf" and there you can order from him direct IF he has any!!

Great looking pen you have there Amos!
What did the blank look like before you started?
I can imagine the amount care that you would of taken to turn such a awesome pen. I know if I was making a pen like that, I would be extremely nervous that the blank would blow out on me.
Thanks for sharing.

Amos
I am with you I too love wood but play around with other materials for fun.
Woodenscream at that pen, like the snake sock in the laundrymat I am in love with your pen. The deep colours and full blacks, no bleeding, delightfull finish, together with your style of assembly finesse combines to make one of those pens to remember and cherish.
As well as you I have found deep satisfaction with my dealing in the USA on the for sale at the IAP. Sometimes the site is very parochial and difficult to understand some thing to do with the twists we both countries apply to the English language no doubt, some times I question the International tag in their name. No such doubts here on our site our welcome is as wide as our broad country.
Some occasions I question do you ever sleep your output is so high? Keep up the top pens my mate.
Regards Peter.

Absolutely one of your very best efforts to date, Amos. And that's saying something indeed.
