This weekend...
I got left alone in the shed (SWMBO was working), so I got a few pens finished. The woods in the bullet pens are as follows: left to right
1. Red Mallee Burl
2. Red Mallee Burl
3. Red Mallee Burl
4. Purple Acacia
5. Tasmanian Blackheart Sassafras
6. Budgeroo Burl (looks a lot like Amboyna)
7. Gidgee (Shellawax Glow finish)
8. Box Burl (the grain in this is over the top)
All are CA finishes with the exception of the Gidgee
Enjoy,

Corbs a great selection of pens you have crafted. The pink and blue elegant beauties are outstanding. The timber selection for the cartridge pens are the best I have seen. Sometimes plain timber is just not enough for a cartridge, it is either, antler, burl or a highly figured grain to make them just stand out from the crowd. But the Sedona is my pick of them all, timber and plating have been married well together. Are they .308's or 30.06's? Well done mate

Hi Corbs
Great set of pens you have there.
I too like the pink and blue sierras. I am pretty sure the women would really like those.
MIK - Try Horsley Park Gun Shop. They have an extensive range of cartridges there and the come highly recommended as well. I bought my DB 12 Gauge there and their service was really good, even though it was a Saturday morning and there was about 100 customers in the shop at the time.
Thanks for sharing.

Mik if you know anyone in a gun club, or a policeman. I have been given some 7.62 from an officer they are equivalent to a .308. Other wise I buy my brass new from a local gunsmith. Showed them a .308 I made and have ordered .303, 30.06 and 300 magnum cartridges from them. I can order in bags of 50 or 100. At the moment, I can't keep up with the amount of 300 magnum pens the local police want.

Thanks guys, I have found that there really isn't a lot of interest in light coloured woods for the bullet pens. I use .308 shells to make the pens but might be making some in .303, Mauser & maybe an 8mm magnum?
I get the brass from a guy in Queanbeyan, but I have heard that there may be a seller bringing them in as kits soon. Won't say too much as I am not sure if its supposed to be common knowledge yet though.
The Pink Sedona & Pencil are a pair for the clients wife, the Pink & Aqua Sierra's are for his daughters. He must have something big planned to be buttering up all the girls. It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

very nice work corbs, have you thought about shaping the seirra slightly - Take a slow taper from the point to about 15mm short of the rear, then return straight to the end.

Thanks again guys, Salty my personal preference is bush to bush on nearly all pens. Some I like with a bit more shape and I have done it with Sierra's but I think that was more me avoiding a blowout or just being lazy.

The Gidgee is fiddleback (have also seen it referred to as Ringed). It looks good in the pic but the fiddleback in the Box Burl is really my favourite. I wasn't going to say anything... but I salvaged that bit out of my scraps bin
