    Default Grey

    Les,

IMHO grey looks better, the pen stands out more due to the contrast. It tends to get lost against the deer skin.
    beautiful pen !!

i much prefer the deer hide, gives a much warmer feel, the grey is very plain

has the hide been brain tanned to buckskin???

looks like a very soft pelt from the pickie

    all the best

Yes, the hide has been tanned to buckskin.
I have many tanned deer and moose hides from my hunting days.
