Another first....wife poured this one
Just got finished turning this double closed-end pen from a blank that was my wife's 'first' pour. PR, just so everyone knows...3/4" round blank that was 5-3/8" in length(long enough for this kit....) BTW, didn't bother with reverse painting the blank or anything, figured gold acrylic on a brass tube would ride just fine.
Think I only came across three or maybe four airholes during the finishing. Wet sanded through 12k with the MM, and then a quick spin with MacGuire's PlastixPolish. Tried to tone the photo's back of the shine to let the blank come through(it was almost impossible).
Had a Sedona kit with Upgraded Gold finish, rollerball of course, and been itching all week to get my table back from the wife's pouring PR activities....finally!
Think I could have made the cap just a 'tad' shorter, but done is done!
Ah, must have photo's!!!

Comments appreciated, but critique on the turning is better!

Sorry mate, I tried to find something to critique, but i couldn't. It looks pretty perfect tome, and photo's are good at hiding any slight imperfections anyway, or sometimes shadows looks like problemswhen they aren't.
I like the blank too,so great job to the missus.

WOW!
What a great looking collaboration!
Great coloring and depth in the blank with great form, plating and kit to show off the blank.
Reminds me a bit of a cigar with the Sedona center band.

Beautiful work. Congrats to the wife. I have my wife interested in pen turning now and its becoming a competition as to who gets the lathe. Still, I was warned
Have you worked out the clip situation yet. I saw a Utube video a while ago that showed someone cutting out a slot in the cap of the pen to fit a clip into it. I will see if I can find it again.

Thanks for the nice words everyone...the wife is a pouring fool(although, I would never call her a fool to her face
)
The clip, is the next on the "learning curve", that and learning to do my own threads! That way, all those bit-n-pieces that come in the 'kits' I'm going through can remain whereever they come from! Much rather buy a clip, and either a rollerball ink stick or fountain pen nib(may not cost less, but it'll be better quality and what the people want-those that are buying)!
Guess I'll need to do some digging at the YouTube for clip installing(I'm a visual kind of person anyway).
