well they are all in the mold, resin warmed, catalyzed, poured and on the cure

should be all good by tomorrow

there are a few bubbles visible in the pickies but they are all on the surface, can't see the bottom though

well the TIME has arrived, the MOMENT of truth... thats all the clock references i can think of that apply

casting was completed and the blank came out the mold beautifully, i am always worried about bubbles underneath the blank where they can't be seen

pictured below is the finished product, hopefully this one lasts as long as rest have

There are more clock and watch puns to be had but I won't give you the gears about them. I was wondering if you ever considered trying ponce wheels for making your rivet lines in the aluminium tape? If you have any of the very small torx screw drivers they make little stars or gear impresions, and the bigger ones can be rolled along at various angles for different marks. I only tried once to make a foil blank and you were part of the inspiration. Thanks

i use a heavy aluminum tape and it doesn't have a backing, so i would have to stick it to a flat surface to use that wheel and i think it would loose a bit of its stickiness, the torx screw driver bits i have played with, some of them even look a bit like flowers so i filled the depression with nail polish, came up a treat

what happened to your foil blank??? did you finish it??? come on show us the results

i am very happy to hear you got some inspiration from what i have been showing

I had a couple kinds of foil and the stuff without a paper backing I put on the slick paper backing that is left after a printer label is removed. No effect on the stickiness.

Here are a couple of the pictures. Not the greatest. I was a little too timid with the application of paint and rubbed off more of the "antiquing" than I should. I also polished the brass tubes on the lathe with the intent of leaving some "windows in the fuselage" for contrast. The polished surface made the foil want to slide around a little while positioning it. It was a swap pen on another forum for Phil Hansen in South Africa, the pen kit is a Rhodium or Platinum Jr. Gent.

QC ! first there are no rules with development stuff, only end results and those look pretty damn good to me ,as you are aware sometimes we are our own worst critics ,the end result may not be how you envisioned it, but without your comment about wiping too much paint off nobody would have guessed hehe, well done cheers ~John

the one bonus with this style of blank.... there is only 1 rule.... MAKE IT UP AS YOU GO

i think that pen looks great, i hadn't thought of polishing the tube, i also hadn't thought of using an old backing paper to put the thicker tape on in order to do the rivet holes, i will be venturing into the shed to try and find my stitching marker for leather work, does much the same thing as the pounce wheel, i like the unevenness of the hand placed rivet holes but there is always a time and place for evenly spaced holes as well

keep playing mate you never know what you will think of adding next, the sky is the limit
