Wood help required
Hi All. Ok, a good friend of mine volunteers with the YMCA doing camps with kids who are going through rough times. He has asked me to knock up some pens for his fellow volunteers. The last camp was in the Angelsea, Victoria. He wants some pens representing the area and tells me most of the wood was greyish (so wants greyish pens) but nicely figured. Any ideas? I would have thought the trees would be eucalypt, maybe some gum species.
If anyone knows where I can get something good (have emailed timberbits), or has anything suitable they want to sell or swap please let me know.
Thanks for your help
Stuart

Probably Grey Box they are a fairly grey looking tree, however the wood is not grey. Bit like the River red Gum, it is also a grey looking tree on the outside, but nice and red on the inside.
Anyway, if you want some Grey Box blanks let me know, I have quite a few here.

Most woods turn grey in time when exposed out in the open, I haven't seen one grey off the saw, perhaps that is what he is talking about. Down near the camp at Angelsea there is a lot of tea tree, grey on the outside, inside varies from creams to reds. Not sure if it is the same camp, but I spent a lot of time as a kid at the then YMCA camp, also Mt Martha and a few others

Anglesea recreation camp website has this photo.
Work out what the trees are in the back ground and there you have the right pens?
