wormy wood
I dissasembled and re-turned this one to correct an out-of-round state ( nasty mandrel). It is made of bald cyprus, from Florida, A very soft wood, like cedar. I cut it cross grain as an exercise for the student, as the math books say, so I could learn to work with a soft, easy to blow out timber. The pen got a little thinner during the rework. When I took the photo, I realized- I have made an earthworm Even the acrylic CB/oops ring looks like part of the worm. Oh well.

Nothing wrong with that earth worm!!! much nicer than the dugite (snake) I just missed stepping on while out on the horse this morning!!
You are right, the band does look like the 'saddle' on the worm!

The worm turns
With the cast of thousands that view the forum all of us would be hard pressed to find fault with your pen.Different centre cross grain wins every time, the shape is simple and tapers nicely in all ways a good pen.
