Xanthorrheoa
Well my journey continues, this is the first Sierra that I have made for some time. It is a piece of Xanthorrheoa on a Black Titanium and Platinum kit. Can't say for certain if it came from Western Australia or if it some of the local stuff around the Bundaberg bushlands. Some Xanthorrheoa has a nice flash of yellow in it but this piece is more uniform in brown colour . The finish is a blended CA that I have developed since starting to use it in 2005. There are 30 coats of CA that are cut back after 10 coats with 400 W&D and leveled out. Final sand is through to 12000 MM and then followed by buffing out with tripoli, a fine liquid polish and finished off the lathe buffing with dilux.

Nice pen... before I started turning I tore out one of those things over west and threw it in the garden
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Hi mate love your Grass Tree, rather than take away from your beautiful pen I resurrected some old pics in another thread to show another variety.
Like your finish and presentation as the healing progresses.
My best Peter

Very nicely done! I like the cutting the CA back after ten coats approach. Fit and finish is superb, as one could expect coming from you. Very nice pen.
On a side note, I had some Xanthorrheoa once a long time ago, but my doctor was able clear it up with antibiotics. When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
