Incra TS LS
I am looking at upgrading my table saw fence and had a look at the Incra TS LS.
Seems I have a conundrum though, if your TS top is longer (mitre slot direction) than 28" you need an XL version of the Incra. Now if you read the US Incra site, they say it is a nominal fee, to me that means "bugger all", but at Professional Woodworking, it bumps the price from $1080 to $1550
The other thing I noticed, in the states if you buy the 52", the extra support legs come as standard, if you get them from PW, it is an extra $125 (normally that is, they are on special for $80).
Seems a tad rough, or am I reading wrong?Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

I generally try to buy from Aust distributors, but the price difference between US stores and here makes it hard! My last couple of Incra purchases have been online from US. Couldn't overlook the savings.

"Professional Woodworking" aren't that professional if they are charging you what looks like more than ten times the cost of getting the XL version.
Give them the big fat hairy greasy finger and buy direct. Even if it costs you more.
It should be costing you AUD $39 more, not AUD $470.

Hi
you have mixed up the prices the first price is with 52" rails & standard width The second one is the 92" rail XL version
an XL upgrade is $150 for any version
Cheers Rod
Edit
I just checked again it is very hard to understand the site but I found the prices you are talking about
maybe a phone call to PWS is needed as if you purchased the $1080 and the upgrade it would be only $1230
And you can fit it to a large or small saw

This is Verbatim from the site -
Incra LS 52" Table Saw System w/- Joinery Fence and 92" Rails - Standard Version $1020.00
Incra LS 52" Table Saw System w/- Joinery Fence and 92" Rails - XL Version $1550.00
The 52" describes the max cut of both systems, but the actual rails from end to end is 92".
So to get a Incra LS 52" XL with the extra support legs locally is about $1330.00, (if it is only $150 extra as you say) the states can do it for $874.00. Both prices include postage, roughly. I'm all for buying Australian but at the end of the day, why pay a third party $450 to order something from the states.
Nothing against any Australian Woodworking sites, they have to make profits to cover their overheads etc, but unfortunately for most retailers, the internet has opened another option. If we are talking $20, $30 even $50 saving, I would prefer to get it quicker and support Australian businesses, but $450 for a working man is too much to ignore. Plus the fact my arm is in a sling for another 4 weeks, so I am not in a hurry.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

Hi Guys,
For what it's worth, I've bought from PWS a few times now and even had course to speak to them directly on the phone once or twice during my dealings with them. I will say that from my own personal interactions with both Graham and Marita, you could not find two more obliging and friendly people to deal with, and in our business dealings, they have gone over and above the call to make sure I was completely happy and satisfied with my purchases.
Although I can't disclose the exact way they went about placating me when there was an (honest) misunderstanding in one of my orders, I can only attest to their utter professionalism and that their desire to achieve complete customer satisfaction was something that is rarely seen in today's business dealings especially with a small company like theirs.
On the other hand I don't want to say anything for or against their prices, other than the items they handle are mainly of overseas origin and are of the best quality I have seen in a long time.
Now admittedly shipping and storage and handling costs are a huge factor for businesses to have to either absorb or incorporate into their final pricing and that unfortunately has to be (in part) passed on to the consumer. Sometimes you may find that dealing directly with the manufacturer might be cheaper in the short term, but one thing in favour of dealing with a local supplier is that they are far more likely to follow through and support a customer than a larger overseas manufacturer who could make it very difficult (and expensive) to get satisfaction should something require either replacement of a defective part or servicing of a purchased item.
Anyhow, I've said my 2 cent's worth and I hope that some of it makes sense, but at the end of the day you are the one who has to stick your hand into your pocket and come up with the cash, and you are the one who has to be satisfied with all the aspects of your purchase. All I can add now is that I will always try to buy Australian and support Australian run businesses where possible. Unfortunately, pricing and shipping costs do play a large part in our ultimate decisions. It all boils down to doing what is right for you and your circumstances, and in those I wish you all the best.
BTW, having said all this I want to say I have no affiliation with Professional Wood Working Supplies or their owners. I am just a very satisfied customer who will gladly deal with them again in the future.
Thank you for letting me have my say.

I hope my thread hasn't been interpreted as a PWS bashing thread, that wasn't the intention. I have purchased items from them recently, waiting for an order to arrive now actually. It was to do with the price differences for Incra products, in particular the jump in price for 2 inches of aluminum extrusion.
As you say though, business' do have overheads etc, I mentioned that in one of my comments I believe, but when the price difference is nearly $1000 more for an item, you have to wonder.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
