LS Positioner tablesaw woes.
The big day had arrived and the Incra fence for the tablesaw was finally here.
It was the LS-32 which "fits most tablesaws", so as we were installing it, came across a small paragraph that said "...:if your table is longer than 28" you need a longer base, contact Incra for details", grrr table is 34", the fence itself is also about 4" short, it is not quite long enough to fit the anti-raising hooks.
Now the Carbatec MJ2325B is by no means a big saw nor is it uncommon.
So what happens now, need to spend even more money to get the bigger base and longer fence ?
The website had no such warnings about such size limitations which would have been handy to know before ordering.
Another handy thing they sent was the metric conversion kit, for a LS-17.
Cannot talk to the people it came from for now, they have bigger issues to deal with.
So, what I'm really doing is venting and asking what should have been ordered?.

I have no idea where you bought it from, but the Incra site has lots of info regarding matching the saw size to the rails.
I was keen on buying one of these fences some time ago, but in the end I couldn't think of why I would want that level of accuracy off the saw on a rip cut. Cross cut accuracy is much more important.

If it's cheaper for you to buy a new kit with the correct parts, let me know and I'll consider taking this one off of your hands.

You need to ask!!!!
Hi
Selling Incra gear isn't as easy as swiping a credit card, there are many factors to consider, particularly the saw dimensions. Saws over 28" need the XL version fence & mount, saws over 36" need specially produced fence & mount.
Also, all LS systems sold now should be Metric unless they're old stock, you will need an hour or so to do the conversion.
In Incra's defence their web-site, as does ours, mentions the XL versions, perhaps this needs to be a bit more detailed?
If you still have problems let me know I'm sure we will be able to do something.
Regards
Grahame

I recently got the same product direct from Incra and couldn't be happier with the product or their service. I ordered the XL version for my Hafco table saw and it was quick and easy to fit. No problems whatsoever. The only hiccup was that Incra suppkluied an imperial LS system and I had correctly ordered the metric one. To their credit they shipped out a conversion kit at their expense very quickly. It took a bit odf fiddling to fit - it helps if you have two people doing this job and allow and hour to hour and a half. If anyone has the need for the old imperial kit let me know and you can have it for free - or shipping only if out of Melbourne. Graeme do you have a need?
Anyway it is all fitted and calibrated and is just an amazing addition to the workshop. I am very glad that I made the purchase.

Depends on how you choose to work.
I get near planer quality cuts off my saw and being able to snip a thou off the thickness of a piece of wood is worth the entry cost alone to me.
I guess you'd never use it to make dovetails, finger joints or the other repeat cuts they do so well.
Of course I have a router wing on mine so the fence gets used there.
There is also the strength, squareness and the potential to attach jigs, extensions etc to it, but you don't need an incra for that I suppose.
If you can't find a use for an incra that's all good, but mine was a revelation. Turned a complete idiot into a slightly lesser idiot...I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

Same goes for me!
I have a very similar setup myself except I went further and got the Wonder Fence with the LS as well! I started with just the LS positioner kit and added to it from there.)
Apart from being able to rip accurately I also use the router/extension as my jointer and dovetail/box joint jig. It's a wonderful arrangement and overall (and despite the LS overhang) the overall dimensions are far less than a separate saw table/router table combination. The preset stops allow me to repeat the setups swapping from one to the other.
The whole kit has improved my accuracy enormously!
Now I've just got to get the designs right! (SIGH!!!)
