    Default To much tail

I'm trying to make a double dove tail and I'm ending up with more space on one side than the other (part you cut away) it's taking more out when I finish out than it is when I first start . From the center point 7C to the first "A" cut is just about a 1/8 inch. The last cut uses almost the hold bit.

This after I have set up the height and centering spec's

    Board 2 5/8
    Gauge IDDF
    Height 1/2
    Center 7C
    5/8 7 degree bit

Any Ideas I'm low on scrap.

    Hi Hexy

looks like you caught most of us "enjoying" a very wet Saturday

I don't have an Incra, but am curious -- what is a double dovetail? can you post a sketch or picture?
    regards from Alberta, Canada

If you go to youtube and type in" Incra Positioner" you can see it being done on Icra's demo's of the positioner. There are three, look at the last demo.

    Hope this helps

Well this is embarrassing. I found out the problem. The incra was right on. I finally took the piece 3/4 inch material over to book and laid the wood right on the template for IDDF and the tails lineded up perfect and sure enough shallow tail on one end fat ont on the other end, ther actually wasn't a problem.

    1. Start off with what I just said, put you material right on the book template. If you see that the tail space ends up with uneven spacing just use a different temple in the book in my case it was IDDD.

    2. Here is where my problem was I was going to use IDDD but it said suggested thickness 1/2, well I was using 3/4 so I just found a template that said 3/4 stock. But I never checked the spacing and when I ended up with a small tail on one end and a larger on the other I thought I was doing something wrong.

    3. I went and layed the wood on the IDDD template and everything looked good, but it says suggested 1/2 wood, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT use and thickness you want as long as the spacing is right.

I hope this is understandable if not PM me, Why I numbered this? I don't know.

Gee, Hex, you jumped right in on the DD Dovetail? I'm still trying to pefect the DD Box ( getting close ). I got started on a new box, and dicovered part way thru that all my stock was not the same thickness, and this will cause a problem. Thanks for the tip on checking the templates.

Make sure your stock is the same thickness, cut at exactly 90 deg and pushed right down onto the router plate. DAMHIKT
