    Default Timber slicing

I just picked up a couple of thick slices of Lemon-scented Gum after it was felled last week.
They are about 30cm in diametre and 15 thick.
I'd like to slice it or have it sliced into rounds.
Do I do it now while it's wet or wait months until it is seasoned?
And how do I slice wet timber neatly anyway?

Whatever you do dont cut the rounds less thann 100mm thick, that stuff is volatile in the end grain, add lotsa end grain sealant (even wax would do). Makes a good board though like a pale version of spotted gum. dont forget seal seal seal.
I have had good results keeping end grain under water for a few months and worked on it in the cooler months.
    Good luck, the bird

Hello, fellow Adelaidian. The small bandsaw I just bought theoretically should be able to cut through 30cm of wet timber, so my guess is that there will be plenty of places where you could have your wood cut. After that you can microwave the pieces and be ready to go in just a couple of days.
    Cheers
    Frank
