Morning all,

This morning I awoke to water leakage in our newly painted house. No great suprise, although I hoped it would wait for a few years.

We have a klip lok roof approximately 100 sqm covering our back extension. The other day when walking on it I must have cracked the join between two sheets (end of end join) and water appears to have leaked in, damaging the paint in a small area of the house. I have applied silicone and bitumen tape to the cracked area to stop the leakage but need to do something more permanent. The roof has rusted sections closest to the house, which our builder thought would last for a couple of years before replacement. No penetration through at this stage. He told us you could not replace just a section of the roof as klip lok is difficult to remove without damaging adjoining pieces.

A couple of questions for you:

1. Can anyone give me a ballpark cost? Is it $5k or $10k? Roof is fairly simple, no great slope, one skylight.
2. Would painting the affected sections help? I note there are some thick paint options out there for roofs - if I used a rust remover then painted would this greatly extend the life?

Cheers,

Tom
