Advice please: Widening internal roof access
Hi Everyone
I have a small access opening to my roof space and would like to increase it's size. Currently it spans 2 joists. I would like to cut a joist and make it span 3, effectively doubling the size of the opening. See attached below.
Other than the obvious need for reinforcement across multiple joists, Is this approach possible? or am I contravening any building codes?
Thank you all in advance
Cheers
Phil
