Bracing and racking resistance query
Re the Carport disaster thingie
Certifier is coming sometime today to inspect the holes
He has informed us the we "HAVE" to have the "X" bracing at each end as the young builder has used skinny stirrups and these have no resistance to sideways movement at ground level
We absolutely do not want these braces at each end but we understand the need for them and have no objection to them in the middle of the length
I am however going to ask the certifier to work with us to devise an alternative and my initial thought is simply to spend a few extra dollars and sister in a second H4 post using a series of 12mm though bolts to the posts on each end
I know this system works as I've used it before
Any thoughts here before he arrives around lunchtime?
