Hey Guys,

I have a couple of questions regarding building a new bathroom wall.
The plan:

  • Walls will be L-Shaped enclosing an existing corner ~ 2000 x 3000 x 3000h
  • Walls will be non-load bearing
  • House is weatherboard cottage with timber floorboards

The floorboards within the bathroom will be removed and replaced with Scyon CF and internal walls will be clad in 6mm Villaboard, I will likely tile the full height of the bathroom so will need to consider tile weight. Should I build the new frames over the existing floorboards or remove floorboard and attach directly to joists? Does the plasterboard where the new frame butts against the current wall/ceiling need to be removed or can I attached new walls to existing studs/noggins through the plasterboard?

I already have some lengths of 90x45 blue pine, is there any advantage in dropping down to 70x35 (i.e. easier to find door frames?).

Thanks,

Alex
