Hi,

I am planning on building a timber framed carport with a gable colourbond roof.

My idea was to use 6 off 100 x 100 timber posts bolted to stirups fixed to a concrete slab.

The top of the posts would be checked out (50mm) to accomodate a 200 x 50 pine beam which would be attached to the posts by bolts.

I would also use this size beam on the front and back.

The roof would be 100 x 50 pine with 75 x 25 battens and colourbond.

Would I need any kind of bracing on the posts to stop it acting like a pack of dominoes? The roof would also be braced from corner to corner with strapping.

Hope this is clear enough ?

Thanks

Greg
