Ceiling Access Hatch Dimensions
The ceiling access hatch in our 100+ year old house is a rather snug 14 x 20 inches - no metrics then. We have been told that it is no longer legal as it fails the "fat fireman" or the "fully equipped fireman" test - it should be bigger. We are considering a kitchen upgrade and wonder if we should enlarge the access hatch at the same time. Is there an Australian Standard or other rules with which we should or must comply?
