G'Day
I have a Group Settlement House ( c 1920) in WA and have lowered one of ceilings to create a loft. However, 3 of the Collar ties have to come out to ( basically) stop me banging my head.
It seems to me that, on the non loft side I can run the CT's down and nail them onto the central wall plate... BUT what do i do on the side above the new loft??? Can i reinforce the rafters some how?
The new loft is LVL bolted to the wall studs- so the walls are not going anywhere.
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers
Grayum
