Cypress Frame
Hi All,
Just chasing a bit of advice re working with cypress. I'm currently doing a major reno in Brisbane and we chose cypress as its pretty much guaranteed not to be eaten by white ants. Whist its nice timber you don't have to take your time with it to avoid splitting, I'm using shear point nails in the gun but you can't get too carried away and there's a fair bit of pre drilling at ends etc.
What I would like to know from anyone who has the experience is how do they generally fix plaster board and ply bracing to cypress frames? I'm a bit concerned as the bracing plan shows the sheets nailed at 50mm centres and I can't see the cypress studs coping with that too well. At this point I'm thinking of using some shear point clouts, does anyone have any better advice?
Cheers
Dave
