Frames and Trusses Workmanship
Please give me your expert opinions on my new house's Frame and Trusses, looks like crap to me.
Apparently "Workmanship" is not part of the Australian Standards or the Building Code in NSW, that's what the council told me
The House has passed all inspections and has had an Occupation Certificate issued by the Council

The Frame and Trusses were stacked for about a month, the Trusses had permanent bends and bows from stacking

I don't understand - are you wanting us to pick on other tradesman work when we don't have a full story . You can't get a certificate of occupancy based on a frane. Trur, some of the work doesn't look complete, but I would say you're not ready to move in yet anyway

If you have the C of O, then obviously the photos that you have taken of your concerns are nothing more than pathetic evidence collection rather than spending that same time to have your concerns addressed and rectified if necessary. You are clearly "one of those" looking for a problem.

Whoo, that's not much of a welcome, is it! C'mon forum members.
Obviously you're in the cyclone belt, there's a lot of strapping holding that roof and frame together. Yes, some of the work looks pretty ordinary, but house framing isn't fine woodwork. Your frame doesn't look too different to a lot of what I've seen over the years. The 'permanent' bows in the trusses that you've pictured are not major and become pretty inconsequential once the roof is loaded. Tile or sheet roof?
I'm afraid Kuffy's right, there was a time when your concerns could have been rectified, but unless there are post construction problems that can be put down to the 'poor workmanship' I suspect you've done your dash. In my experience the only houses that are built 'properly' are builders own houses.
Not much consolation I know.

True, I'm sorry for being a little short, and thanks aldav for pulling me up. I've been working for a few owner builders and people with axes to grind of late so I was a little short tempered.
The bows in your trusses are likely to have been fixed once the speed brace and truss tries were put on (trusses are fairly flimsy until all bracing is applied).
The posts with bolts into them should probably have been measured a little closer, but if the bolts are into a solid footing not enough, and packed with steel Packers then grouted with structural grout they should be sound
Whilst the hoop iron does look excessive, it would fall into a brick cavity (if it's a brick house) so whilst ugly it isn't really an issue."All the gear and no idea"

Trusses are bowed. They're straightened when erected but even then they don't have to be dead straight. It doesn't effect them.

I'm not a builder, but if I saw the things you show in post #2 on my house I would be calling a private building inspector to have a look and do a report. I might be right or I might be wrong but at least for a few hundred dollars I'd be certain.
Apologies for unnoticed autocomplete errors.

Totally agree Aaron. That is disgraceful work. You need some help to sort that kind of work out.
Chase it up with a decent building inspector.
Regards.
John.

That is some of the worst workmanship I have seen on a new house in many years.
I would make up a duplicate file with photos, registered mail to builder with covering letter and also a copy to Fair Trading. The person who never made a mistake never made anything
Cheers

The OP already has his Certificate of Occupancy implying that the building is finished, inside and out.
Perhaps it's now too late to "complain" about the standard of workmanship?
Rectification of substantive defects would likely require extensive stripping of finished surfaces. And I'm not sure how many of the defects would classify as "substantive" as opposed to "minor" or "non-structural" or "cosmetic".
But I agree, some of that plumbing looks less than ordinary.regards from Alberta, Canada

Thanks for all the Negative and Positive feedback
What I am asking -
Is "Workmanship" part of the "Australian Standards" or the "Building Code" in NSW
I so, where can I find where it states anything about "Workmanship" in the relevant documents

I did ask to have my concerns addressed - apparently there is NO Standard for "Workmanship" ? that's what I am asking about "Workmanship". That's why I posted my pathetic evidence photos. I am not looking for a problem. The problem exists. Why do we have the Australian Standards if no one enforces them?
