I am adding a room on a bare concrete slab floor, and am hoping to include a standard size external door (glazed in solid merbau) 2040 x 820 x 40 with a matching full height sidelight 2040 x 400 beside it. I am planning to tile the floor inside the room (say 10mm deep). The external walls are to be 90mm timber frame, with plasterboard inside and wrc boards outside.

I am trying to work out three things -

1. If I can put a full-width timber sill across the bottom of both - this would be easiest but I am concerned it will need to be quite shallow, especially if sloped to the outside, or there will be too big a lip inside the doorway to trip over.

2. What should I use as the central pillar between the two and how should I stabilise it if I don't use a timber sill (the latch side of the door will be against the sidelight).

3. Do I use a standard door jamb set for both the door and the sidelight to help them match better.

I's appreciate any thoughts

Thanks, Gado
