I'm in the process of designing a garage. It will border the property boundary on two sides (LHS and rear). I propose a single leaf brick wall with piers for these sides, but I want to do a half timbered construction for the other elevations facing the back of the house. This sort of reflects the mix of building materials found in my house (weatherboard and brick).

Maybe conventional brick up to about window height and then conventional stud wall construction to ceiling height.

Couple of questions.

Is it ok to mount a stud wall onto a brick course?

If so would you continue brick piers to ceiling height to support the stud wall from the interior?

If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks

George
