Currently designing a new house.

I want to install an Canterlevered open roof veranda like the one below

No post on the end of the post. I also want to use timber batterns.

I want to install it here

It would extend out 3m from the bi fold doors, say 5m wide.

I was thinking that 3 steel post coming out from the bricks so the timber battens spans 2500mm.

The reasons I don't want it covered is so it won't block too much sunlight into the house (bi fold is east facing) and so it doesn't feel too enclosed.

Would it be feasible to have the canterlevered steel post coming out from the bricks (vertical steel posts will be in the brick veneer stud wall?

2500mm span too wide even if using say 60x60mm hardwood?

The house is double storey but upper floor is smaller than the ground, so it will eaves above the bi folds.

I'm not sure I can do it as there won't be enough height for the steel between the bifold doorframe and eaves.

The more I think about it the more unlikely I can have the the steel canterlevered. I may have to install posts at the boundary 5m from the bi folds and then have the frame exposed near the boundary.

The reason I want it canterlevered is I don't have a post in the middle of the courtyard.

So do you think is my canterlevered steel frame feasible?
