Keeping rain water out of excavations
So due to some approval delays I've missed the nice weather for excavating strip footing and digging stump holes. I'm faced with digging these out and having it rain whilst I wait for them to be inspected or the opportunity to pour (Murphy's Law). I've been here before ... it bucketed after I dug 56 stump holes previously.
I found that even if you cover the holes the water tends to find it's way in by run off or just seeping in from the earth around (if it's a significant amount of rain). So I thought I'd just ask if there were any tricks out there for avoiding this (other than trying to pick a suitable period and make it happen promptly)?
