    Default Verandah Beams

I'm looking for an alternative to a solid verandah beam. I was looking out my back window yesterday at the open web girder that has been used on the verandah at the rear of our house and I wondered if there was perhaps something a bit more decoractive that could be used. A 150mm deep beam will throw a bit of a shadow and something open would let more light through.

Any ideas? I'm wondering if there is something commercially available that could be used for this....

If there's no overhang beyond the verandah edge, use a structural member as a fascia-beam.

Otherwise, 150mm is a pretty small beam. Get over it!

So with a fascia beam, we'd hang the rafters off the back, extend the roof sheet over the beam and hang the gutter off the front, is that right? There is an overhang of 100mm but I can move the posts forward. We need 50mm into the gutter.

Glad you don't have a life, otherwise we wouldn't have all this brilliance on tap
