Padstone under universal beam?
In the UK and Ireland when lintels are being installed in existing masonry you often see some of the bricks removed and padstones put in underneath the beam to spread the load. I have had a look through the BCA and AS4100 (steel structures) and I can't find any reference to anything similar. Is this done here?
