Post and Beam span tables
Hi everyone,
I've finally joined the forum after lurking for a good while. I've had a rifle through the Library resources on the forum and done a thread search but haven't been able to find a good reference for 'post and beam' span tables/design guidelines. Does anyone have any info or links?
Essentially I am planning a basic rectangular workshop/studio 10800 x 6000, with posts at 3600 intervals along the long side and 3000 on the width and a 35 degree gabled cathedral ceiling. The only thing I can assume from my 'simplified' BSA standard book is that I use the lintel span tables to determine the beam dimensions and 'concentrated load' stud dimensions for the posts??? I'm sure that's wrong but I just cant find a standard that talks specifically about it.
I've done a good bit of renovating but I'm no pro and have never done anything like this so any advice would be gratefully received.
Cheers
Matt
