Hi All,

Just started building walls and scratching my head about bracing... Engineer specified a few different types of bracing.

I went to a big green shed another day and found 2 types of strap bracing, could you please explain to me difference between 30mm x 0.8mm (x 30m roll) of non punched and 30mm x 0.8mm (x 30m roll) punched strap (with 2 rows of small holes and 1 row of big holes in between)? Which one is suitable for walls and/or roof?

Also some plywood bracing only 2400 high (major axis) x 1200 wide, my walls are 2620 high and 3280 high, I was wondering can I boot join 2 sheets of plywood (of course if I keep major axis vertically) or shall I order somewhere 2620 long and 3280 long plywood? According to a framing code AS1684 you need to run one continuous sheet from top to bottom plate, however you can join 2 sheets by securing them to a noggins... I am a bit confused here. Am I missing something?

My bracing as follows:
type D - cross tension brace 2700mm wide = 8.1kN
type H - plywood F14 6.0mm thick "method B" = 7.3kN (995 and 1220mm wide)
type H - plywood F27 6.0mm thick = 3.6kN (610mm wide)
