Hi guys,

I am new to renovating and need some help please.

I am looking at purchasing a Edwardian period home which needs a lot of work done.

The existing weatherboards need to be replaced. Now I have been looking around and I cannot decide what type of weatherboard should be used. Does anyone know what types are suitable for these types of period homes? Can you use Hardwoods or Fibre cement weatherboards. (Weathertex or Primeline) What about using timber weather boards? I assume this is very expensive and maintenance can be an issue.

I am also not sure if these period homes need to be kept within a certain style, which in that case hardwood or fibre cement material will not be suitable?

I am looking at on selling this property it is not for me to live in.

Can anybody shed some light on this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Mav
