    Default Roof Style?

We are about to build a 'Victorian' period style home and wonder what the authentic roof style is called - a cross section from the rear would appear as an 'M' or '2 peaks' shape - so we can explain to builder. Thanks for your time.

The correct term is in the back of the memory somewhere but I can't drag it out.
We refer to it as a 'miners cottage roof' popular around the 1870's.
2 ridges ( gable end roof ) with a box gutter down the centre.

Make sure the box gutter is constructed correctly with enough fall to stop any water entering the dwelling

make sure the gutter has an over-flow. I did a job a few years back where the box gutter didn't have an over-flow and the down pipe got blocked with an empty coke bottle. $50 to install over-flow in rainwater head, $3500 to replace water damaged ceiling.
