    Default Roofing balcony

Hello wood butchers!! I am redoing a balcony deck /hand rail and would like to put a roof over. Its 1.5m cantilevered deck & have colorbond fascia. Question is, is anything designed to fix to the metal fascia, do I have to penetrate the metal roof with some type of post stirrup?

    Thanks in advance

I suggest VERY STRONGLY that you get a qualified builder or accredited building person to visit, check the structural integrity of your canter levered joists BEFORE you go any further.

Subject to their inspection and any recommendations, proceed from there.

You have no doubt heard and seen news items of failed decks, you insurance policy will be worth ZERO if you do ANYTHING unapproved or not certified and then you won't have to worry about it any more because you won't have a house of your own any more.

I respectfully suggest you have a look at my profile also.

Totally understand & agree ! as treated pine 240x50 joists are in excellent condition, original tp decking and finger joint pine handrail were always a short term plan. Basically wish to raise a few new posts and add 1mt laserlite sheets. I will just remove some soffit & baton rafter ends behind fascia. Thanks for the input.

what you are proposing is to add an additional load to the end of the cantilever.

as others have advised cover your rear end with documented professional advice.
