Really Rough Guesstimate - Convert roller doors to double sectional (remove a pier)
Hey all,
I've never had any structural work quoted on before, but basically I've got a ~10 year old brick house that has a double garage with 2 roller doors, and a brick pier in the middle (assume that it must be load-bearing) - I want to remove the brick pier and just change it to one big sectional garage door, but I don't want to waste any builders time getting quotes if its going to be more than say $5 or 6K to get it done...I've no idea on how much it costs to remove structual things? Any really rough guesstimates for me?
For those of you asking why bother, my driveway leads up to the doors on an angle due to the shape of the block, and I'm sick of the circus tricks required for getting cars in and out of the left hand garage.
