    Default Scaffold Ideas?

Hi There, to fit in with the existing house my extension is to have quite a high pitched roof. Accessing this during construction is what I am currently trying to come up with ideas for ... ie getting the rafters up etc.

As scaffold is quite expensive to buy or hire ... does anyone have any great ideas on how to make your own work platforms etc? The wall frames will go up first so maybe they cul be utilised?

Alternatively ... any ideas on where to get cheap scaffold?

    Rob

You could always try stealing it from Al.

yes, he'd like that for shore... I must remember to re-paint the stuff I pinched from him.

The scaffold I'm working off at the moment is something like $1.75 a piece to hirer a day ......I think.....I'm not paying it, so I haven't taken much notice. ..... Its far more relaxing getting paid by hour over a quote, an't it

Good to hear that you will be erecting the wall frames first as it makes erecting the roof so much easier .... If you think scaffolding is expensive wait till you see the price of sky hooks. Throw up the ceiling joists first and lay makeshift 'floor' on top with 18mm ply. This is assuming that your room sizes are reasonable spans. If you have large rooms you may need to place temp suppurt under the centre of the joists. Trust me safe as houses ... well at least yours.

Mate there are some things where you just have to grin and bear the costs , scaffold is one of them , safety and ease of use alone cover the cost, or steal them from AL , though I would strongly advise you don't get caught doing it

Here is an alternative but still may be pricey.
Keep for future use or re sell it after you use it and get some money back.

Thanks, it has cathedral ceilings so there are no ceiling joists to use. Looks like scaffolding is the way to go ... just wanted to make sure there was no easy trade secret I was missing for this one.
