G'day everyone,
i have a bit of a problem: house was inspected and okayed by the govt to get nice fat rebate on solar installation. However, last week when they came around to install and changed their mind because of the asbestos roof.

Now, two things i can do to get the panels installed: 1. replace roof material with colorbond first, 2. find another installer that will put the panels up without worrying about the asbestos. have commenced this process but no one yet...

However, if 2 does work out and somewhere in future should i decide to replace the roof, there'll be all sorts of other costs to remove the panels, and replace after the roof goes on including electrical etc. There's always the chance the house will be more desirable at resale without the asbestos.

So, i'm not in the building industry at all and have no idea about roofing. Does it cost a lot to get asbestos removed and the colorbond installed? it's a 60yr old house, 3br, 1 bath - not very big really. The only thing is the fairly steep pitch of the roof and we have couple skylights and range hood vented.

any advice, info, ball park cost estimates would be appreciated.

finally any recommendations of who in this area ( mt gravatt - brissy) could do this job?

thanks heaps for reading this far.
