Someone recently said in a thread you cannot repair a split board successfully and I tend to agree.
Doing up an old house and replaced most of the facia with new but left the front as electricity is connected through the front fascia.
Sanded back to bare timber and treated but the end on one side was split, I thought I did
a good job glueing and screwing together and priming undercoating and two coats of topcoat. Looked like new .
But after two months and plenty of rain the split reappeared again.
I had an old tin of white fiberglass gelcoat and hardener, I did not use any matting just
painted the gelcoat over the topcoat which was a flat finish exterior paint.
That was 6 months ago and the split has not reappeared as yet and hopefully will not.
In future I think this might be the way to go if your fascia is not in great condition and your looking for a quick fix.
