Hello All,
I am a new to this site but after see how much helpful input and experience is available I thought I may get some useful information myself.
I am currently in the very early stages of designing a possible second story Master bedroom/parents retreat with bathroom. The property is currently 3 Bed, 1 x Bath + separate WC. On a Slab. On the Sunshine Coast queensland.
I have included some pictures of the floor design so far but would appreciate some input to see if I am on the right track. The left side external wall is double brick as well as the front wall which has a large window. The lentil is steel. This double brick wall does not support anything at present. There are also three columns at the front of the house that presently have a bearer across them that support the trussed sheeted roof. The pictures also show that I have planned to add two supporting columns at the kitchen end of the subfloor these are coloured RED along with the double brick walls.
Questions :
Would the Green Bearers be enough to support the floor if the I-beams were to run in the opposite direction to that shown in the pictures? Could I do away with the yellow bearers?
Would this also allow me to canter leaver the Joists further into the centre of the house?
I used DesignIT software in an attempt to get bearer dimensions ect although it spat out that I would need to use 2/600 x 63mm hyspan LVL ? this seems excessive to me(perhaps I input the wrong spans RLW and FLW
