Structural bracing help
Hello to all,
I have a small drama with my extension which has only just been picked up and was hoping I could use the vast expertise of this forum.
The bracing rules state that you can have a maximum of 9 metres between 2 right angled braced walls. I have more like 11.6mtrs.
It would have been nice if this had been pointed out by my designer early on.
My engineer sugested a 1200mm ply braced panel jutting into the living space somewhere along this 9 mtr interval. I dont necessarily like the idea of this.
I thought of somehow creating a feature wall between the kitchen/dining and living space, but this seems to kill the idea of the open plan somewhat.
Steel is out of the question at this stage due to the stage of build and excessive costs.
I have attached a plan for your perusal.
Seagull Plan.pdf
Any ideas would be a great help.
