Hello Everyone, Ive been looking at this forum for a few weeks now and I must say I'm very impressed by the knowledge and activity here

We have a tiled hip roof which had termite action about 6 years ago, which was taken care of then but the weakened timber frame is starting to sag now in a few areas. The sagging areas will need the weaked timber replaced until I have the confidence to slowly rebuild the whole/part roof frame (The tradesmen I have rang either aren't intrested in the job or quote amazingly high prices to get me off their backs, I guess there's easier money to be made elsewhere).

I'm about to buy a Paslode B20544 ($700) cordless impact nailer and still haven't decided on a sliding compound mitre saw, either the 10" Dewalt DW717 ($940) or 10" Makita LS1013 ($970), the 12" are only $100 dearer and probably more future proof but look like huge/heavy beasts!

I'm going to use treated pine to replace the weakened karri frame members, is there a standard pine rating I should be using? Also are there standard rafter/ridge board/hip plate pine dimensions I should be using? or should I just replace the karri with pine using the existing karri size timer/rafter spacings?

Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase timber from in terms of price? I'm in Jandakot, Perth.

Also what nails should I be using in the Paslode nailer for this job? D-head, 90mm, smooth/ring/screw nails????

Thank you in advance
Dan
