The first thing I want to do is have the terracotta tile roof cleaned and repointed .There is a large buildup of moss and lichen along with rusty valleys and loose ridge tiles .I intend to have a professional do the work but would like to know the correct method of tackling it.Obviously the moss needs to be sprayed and left for a day or two before being washed off , valleys replaced and repointing done. Is it necessary to have the roof tiles painted or can it be left natural?
