Learnt a new a new trick today from a young bloke at work, he picked it up from his father who was in the Chilean army and placed land mines on a grid.

Instead of using 3,4,5 or A squared plus B squared = C squared. Say the length of one side side is 2.4 meters, mark 2.4 on the other side. Multiply 2.4 by 0.1414 and that gives you your diagnol measurement.

Any other tricks of the trada please post!
