Hi everyone, I'm about to embark on a renovation project and I recently received a quotation from a builder. I was happy with the costings and inclusions but when I started doing the usual checks for registration details, I noticed the builder who put forward the quotation was not HIA or MBA registered. Instead the builder told me his partner has the registered number yet he is not a director of the builder's company. Later I was told the building permit paperwork needs to go through his colleague but the contract is to go through builder instead. This all sounds a bit dodgy to me but I'm interested to know whether this is an appropriate situation in which the director of the company does not necessarily need to be the registered builder. Does this sound right to you? If so, do I have any recourse should there be issues that arise and who is responsible, the 'registered' partner or the builder who supplied the contract? Thanks for your help
