Hi,

I'm presently getting quotes for the replacement (about 25%) of the wooden weatherboards on our house. One of the guy's who came around last week, said that it might be worth having all the weatherboards covered with vinyl ones. He stated with them (new and old weatherboards) having to be repainted it would be more viable (no more painting, easy cleaning with just a wet rag(s) in the long term plus a 50 year warranty - not likely to be around should it be required!!

He stated that they just rough up the paint work on the existing weatherboards, then put on a form on insulation followed by putting the new vinyl boards over the top of them. Has anyone had there house done this way? I was just concern if the additional weight would cause any additional movement e.g cracking, movement, etc

Any advice would be much appreciated.
